Indian Traditional Games

Looking at the modern scenario, the difference between the older generation and this new
generation is the lack of Traditional Indian Games. Traditional Indian Games are exciting and intriguing. When you begin to play an Indian traditional game, you will lose track of your time and simply can enjoy it. These were the game s of soil. Traditional Games were not just games, they were designed in such a way that one can develop a lot of skills like logical thinking, building strategy, concentration, basic mathematics, aiming, and lot more. Nowadays we develop these skills by paying money to centers that conduct personal development courses.

The importance of playing these games is much more than playing the games played these days. Firstly, these games are nature friendly. It gives us a chance of learning and to be connected to Indian culture. These games can also be played by all age groups which helps in building up a bridge between the older generation and the younger ones. Many modern games played around the world have their origin in these traditional games this is a pride to our country’s culture.

#MADEININDIA :

Kabaddi: Kabadi is the best known Indian Traditional Game. It is a team sport, played mostly in South Asia. The word ‘Kabadi’ is derived from a Hindi word that means, ‘holding your breath,’ which is the activity that underlies all games of Kabadi.

Kho Kho: It is played by teams of twelve players, of which nine enter the field, who try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team.

Satoliya: Satoliya is now commonly known as Lagori is the game of seven stone. This is not known much by other countries as it was played in the villages of India which then found its way in the Urban area.

Lakhoti: is one of the most important traditional game which is played all over India. It is also known by Kancha, Golli, Goti and Marbles (English). This game is considered as one of the street games and this game increases the aiming and concentration skills.

Lattu: Kancha or spinning top are used to play games in India and Pakistan. This has been a traditional game of India which used to be liked and played by every kid, but now it is losing its importance due to the interest taking priorities. This game used to be popular for kids. It is still played in the inner colonies of old area of Udaipur. Lattu is a part of life for children in Indian villages.

Gilli danda: Cricket played with a stick instead of a bat is exactly the structure of Gilli Danda. Previously Gilli Danda was as amateur sports played in the rural parts of India. The game’s origins in India date back to at least the Maurya Dynasty. It is believed to be the origin of Western games such as cricket, baseball and softball.

I would now like to focus on kho kho because kabbadi is already coming up in a certain way and rest all the games are nice but little less important than kho kho because kho kho has 12 players and it's an amazing game as i have enjoyed playing it a lot in my school day.
